L'Ovaille - The Swiss Alps meet Florida

A Legacy Rooted in Tradition The esteemed L'Ovaille estate in Yvorne, nestled in the canton of Vaud, Switzerland, is not just a vineyard; it's a testament to generations of the Deladoey family's passion, stretching back over 200 years.

Awards and Honors L'Ovaille wines aren't just celebrated by centuries of family tradition but have clinched Gold Medals in prestigious wine competitions. L'Ovaille wines have received recognitions by renowned figures like Rolex, Coco Chanel, the Emperor of Ethiopia Haile Selassie, General Guisan, and Alain Delon.

Birthed from Catastrophe The unique terroir of Ovaille can trace its origins back to March 4, 1584. A massive landslide triggered by an earthquake buried the village of Yvorne, blanketing the north-western part with what was to become the renowned soil of Ovaille. The vineyard's very name, derived from the old French “orvaille”, speaks of 'disaster' and 'devastation'. Yet, from such calamity sprouted the world-renowned vineyard.

Territorial Expanse and Challenges Ovaille spans 5 hectares of the finest Chasselas vines and a dedicated 2.3 hectares purely for “Ovaille”. With an impressive 50% slope arching towards the sun, while our vines thrive in this sun-soaked environment, it demands the tireless dedication of our vintners. Every step, from pruning to harvest, is a testament to the meticulous hand of the winegrower.

The Signature Grapes

  • White Wine: Predominantly Chasselas, benefiting from the unique soil born from the 1584 Ovaille landslide.
  • Red Wine: A bold blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon Francs.

The Craft

White Wines fermented in wooden vases ranging from 3,000 to 7,400 liters, our white wine undergoes the gentle touch of micro-oxygenation. A process where the wine is allowed to breathe, to truly live. Meanwhile, red wines are matured in 220-liter barrels made from distinct French wood. The barrels, renewed annually, infuse our reds with a signature wooden aroma and taste.
